Happy Sunday purples!
I learnt something the other day that I knew, but until I heard it verbalized, I didn’t know that I knew. Do you know what I mean? It probably sounds weird, so I will explain. I always knew that overeating was not necessarily a case of just being a glutton, or being greedy or whatever other way you want to describe it. I also knew there were things going on in our bodies and brains that cause some of us to overeat. Well the other day I watched a video that explained the science behind all of this stuff and I thought that I would pass it on in the hopes that it might help someone.
So, apparently back in cave “people” days, if food was plentiful and a cave person put on a bit of fat, the fat cells would produce Leptin. Leptin is a hormone which helps to regulate appetite by signaling the brain that it is full and that it is time for the body to move. Our ancestors didn’t have a problem controlling their weight because of this natural process of the body. Unfortunately, this is not the case for a lot of people in modern times, and there is a scientific reason for it. In some people, while they may have plenty of Leptin circulating in their body, the natural effect of it is being blocked, impeding the signal to their brain that they are full and so they keep eating and eating and eating.
I can hear you asking the question……what blocks the effect of Leptin? Here comes the interesting part. There is another hormone that is produced naturally in the body that most of you would be familiar with…..Insulin. Increased levels of Insulin in the body can block the natural process of Leptin and cause people to overeat. Now comes the REALLY interesting part. What causes increased levels of Insulin in the body? Wait for it……drum roll please…….you actually know the answer……eating too much sugar and flour! We all know that too much sugar and flour is bad for us, and this is why. An added problem is that the more sugar and flour you eat, the more you want. They are very addictive!
I don’t know if I was the only one who got an “aha” moment out of hearing this information this week, but if I was and you already knew it, then take it as a reminder. Too much sugar and flour in our diet can increase our Insulin levels to the point where it reduces the ability of Leptin to control our appetite, causing us to eat more than we should. I am not suggesting that you never have any. Where would be the fun in that? However, foods containing flour and sugar should definitely be “sometimes” foods, for very good reason!
Have a great week everyone!
Shari

Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just
yyour articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and
everything. Nevertheless think about if you added some great images or
ideo clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and video clips,
this blog could definitely be one of the most benefcial in its niche.
Exxcellent blog!

Fantastic blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers?
I’m hopiong to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go
for a paid option? There are so manyy options out there that I’m completely confused ..
Any ideas? Thanks a lot!
Hi
Thankyou for the feedback! I started with a free wordpress website and that is what I would suggest you do too. They really are easy to do, even for non tech people like me and if you don’t know how to do something, you will always find an answer on google. You can find anything on google! 🙂
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is required to get
set up? I’m assjming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very intrernet smart so I’m not 100% sure.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Appreciate it
Hi! A blog doesn’t cost anything at all. You just start one up on wordpress or one of the other free blogging sites. There are a few of them out there. WordPress is very easy to use though and there are lots of video tutorials out there to help if you don’t know how to do something. It never has to cost you anything but your time if you don’t want it to. 🙂
Your means of describing the whole thing in this piece of writing is truly nice, every
one can effortlessly understand it, Thanks a lot.
You are more than welcome! Thank you for your feedback. It is greatly appreciated! 🙂
