Happy Sunday purples!

It’s that time of the week again!  It sure does come around quick doesn’t it?  I really do love Sundays and I have had a lovely one today.  I hope you all have too!

The topic of my blog this week is one that I know a lot of you will relate to and hopefully if you are struggling at the moment this will help you.  If you are in the process of trying to lose weight, you need to remember that you are running a marathon, not a sprint.  It is not as easy as eating right and exercising.  We know what we have to do, but sometimes it is really really hard to do for so many different reasons.  Maybe we have had a bad day, maybe our children have been difficult to deal with, maybe we are just tired and we fall off the wagon.  So often things derail us for a little bit and then what do we do?  We beat ourselves up about it.  We get upset and cranky with ourselves and sometimes we even throw the towel in completely because we ask ourselves why we are bothering?  Does this seem familiar?  It sure does to me!  This is exactly how I USED to be!

It’s not about being perfect every single day.  It’s about staying in it for the long haul.  This is a lifetime thing, not a 12 week challenge and then you’re done.  We need to remember that the habits that we have, the psychological issues that we have that cause us to comfort eat or whatever the reason is that we are overweight in the first place, didn’t develop overnight.  They have been years in the making and it is not going to take a day to fix them.  We are a continual work in progress and it will most probably take you even longer to fully “deal” with any of the habits and/or issues that you have than it may take you to lose the weight in the first place.  I myself still have issues to do with comfort eating and retaining weight which are psychological and I know that they will probably take me a long time to sort them out fully.  The difference between today and 7 years ago, is that I finally made the decision that no matter what life threw at me, I was not going to give up!  I have bad days when it comes to food even now and I probably always will.  We are all human.  It is going to happen.  When it does though, don’t throw in the towel.  Acknowledge what happened, draw a line and start again.  One bad day every now and then is not going to stop you from getting to where you want to get to in the end.  The only person who can stop you is YOU!

So please be kind to yourself if something happens and you fall off the wagon for a bit and please please please get back up, dust yourself off and climb right back on up there!  The ONLY time you fail, is when you give up.

Have a great week everyone!

Shari
