Happy Sunday purples!

I hope you have all had a great week and are enjoying this bright new shiny year we have.  I have had a busy week, but it has been wonderfully satisfying because I have been helping people and that is what I love to do!

This week through my online support group I ran a couple of challenges to get people kickstarted on their health and fitness goals for the year.  One was a challenge to reduce sugar intake, and the other was a challenge to get people to start moving.  It was wonderful to be able to pass on some of the knowledge that I have learned over my journey and have people use that to make positive changes in their own lives.  So a big shoutout to all of my challengers – you are all amazing and thankyou for participating!

As well as helping my challengers reduce their sugar intake for the past week, I have also been on the second week of my own reduce sugar challenge.  I thought it would be a good thing to do a couple of times a year, just to give my body a bit of a detox.  It’s not that I eat a lot of sugar in my day to day diet, but I had a habit of having a little mini bar of chocolate or a little something sweet after dinner every night and then on the weekends I love my wine.  It all soon adds ups, especially when you think about the hidden sugars in other things such as meat marinades, milk, fruit etc.  Some of those are natural sugars yes, but too much of any kind of sugar is still too much.  You really don’t realise how much of a habit you have, until you try to break it!  I can honestly say that although I have noticed that my taste for sugar has definitely lessened over the last 13 days, I still even now am really missing my chocolate and wine!  One thing I always say to people is that it is not realistic or enjoyable to go through life never putting anything bad in your mouth, but we should definitely try to limit it and they should be sometimes foods, not every day foods.  I am definitely not going to be giving up my chocolate and wine any time soon, but moving forward I am going to make an effort to reduce it a little bit more on a weekly basis.

Today is day 14, my last day, and Sunday is usually my wine day, so I am really feeling it today!  I won’t give in though, and I know that I will be so proud of myself tomorrow when I can look back over the last 2 weeks and KNOW that as much as I was tempted, I didn’t give in!  You CAN do anything you tell yourself you can!!
