Happy Sunday purples!

I know, I know! I was slack last week!  I ran out of time again and didn’t get my blog done, but for good reason.  I actually went on an overnight road trip to beautiful Coffs Harbour, as I was helping out with an event that a friend of mine is involved in.  It is called an Adventurethon, which is run over 2 days as there are several different events.  It is sort of like a triathlon but with a paddle leg instead of a swim and the bike and run legs are over trails, rather than the road.  I helped out on the Sunday because I couldn’t get down there until Saturday evening.

The Sunday events were the event that I participated in last year called the Taste of Adventurethon & the Junior Adventurethon. The events include a 1km paddle (500m for the younger kids), 12km bike ride & 4km beach/trail run.  I was the marshal for the turn-around point on the run leg which is the final leg and it was a wonderful experience to be on the other side.  It was awesome to see the kids doing what I had done last year and I have no doubt they would have done it in a much quicker time than I did!  What was truly wonderful to see, were the parents that were doing it with their kids.  Some were doing it with them because they were a bit too young to do it on their own and some were doing it simply for moral support.

This brings me to the point of my blog today. For those of us who either don’t like exercise or busy parents who can’t find the time for exercise, it is amazing what we will do for our kids that we won’t necessarily take the time out to do for ourselves.  We should, but we quite often don’t.  So try to find something that you can do with your kids.  Not only are you getting your exercise, but you are getting your kids active as well.  Even if it’s Pokemon Go!  I see some parents out with their kids playing Pokemon Go.  It is much better than having them playing computer games on the couch and you can really ramp up the intensity by jogging between catching pokemon & pokestops.  Trust me I know!  I don’t have the kids to justify my new guilty pleasure, so I justify it by turning it into my workout for the day.  I managed to run 6km today playing Pokemon Go – not bad for my rest day and I really enjoyed it, which is amazing because I really hate running lol!!  Furthermore, if you don’t have any kids, you still have a few options.  Find a partner in crime to do something fun with, borrow someone else’s kids…..at least you can give them back….or just be like me and act like a big kid yourself!

So if you struggle with getting your exercise on and you have kids or  someone else you can con into it, see if you can find a way to do something together. You never know…..you could actually have a whole lot of fun!

Have a great week everyone!!
